Rapid Prototyping and Tooling Technology to Assist the Development of Low-Cost Dies

This case study aims toward the importance of application rapid prototyping and tooling technology in die design manufacturing. Many conventional machining processes manufacturing, including computer numeric control (CNC) electric discharge (EDM), are used by local manufacturers die, but these time-consuming expensive. There is a need to explore opportunities reduce manufacturing costs. paper assist development low-cost dies through technology. For this purpose, solid works software was 4-hole Lego Block. 3D printing incorporated existing capability investment casting process for A proper gating system consideration taken into account ensure accurate flow material achieving fine surface finish. From results, it has been observed that with four ingates gives optimum value finish (~3.4156μm). The proposed makes practitioners (tool makers) capable making complex shapes, superior finishes, dimensional accuracy less or no time.
